In a troubling incident from the Silwani constituency in Madhya Pradesh's Raisen district, the two-year-old grandson of Congress legislator Devendra Patel was reportedly kidnapped on Thursday, as confirmed by a police official.
The child, identified as Divyam Patel, is the son of Yogendra Patel, who is the cousin of the legislator. According to police reports, Divyam mysteriously disappeared from his home in the village of Paloh, located 80 kilometers from the district headquarters, around 11 AM.
Superintendent of Police Pankaj Pandey stated that the possibility of abduction cannot be ruled out. He informed reporters that the police have registered a case under the relevant sections for missing persons and kidnapping, initiating a thorough investigation.
As of the latest updates, there have been no leads on the child's whereabouts. SDOP Alok Srivastava mentioned that at the time of the child's disappearance, only women were present at the residence. He added that the family employs around 15 staff members.
The police are conducting rigorous interrogations with both family members and staff. Surveillance footage from CCTV cameras shows the child in the courtyard until 11:02 AM, after which he was no longer seen.
Authorities have deployed police teams from various local stations to search the surrounding areas for the child, utilizing canine units and drones to assist in the search efforts.
